No, but you must be able to attend the compulsory tutorials (and arrange your visa if necessary) that take place at various venues in the UK, currently London and Milton Keynes. We cannot guarantee tutorial locations. For stage 1 this can be done online but for Stage 2 some physical attendance is necessary.

Do I have to be British to enrol?
No, but you must have an excellent command of the English language. We welcome overseas students but If English isn’t your first language, please be aware that the standard of written English required for successful completion of the course is high. As the course progresses, students are required to produce comprehensive case reports interpreting technical information relevant to the case. They then need to produce a professional-looking document explaining technical information in terms that a member of the public would understand.
Do I need any special qualifications to enrol?
No, but you must have a good command of English language and comprehension, and be able to communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing. If in doubt call us for a chat and we will discuss this with you.
If English isn’t your first language, please be aware that the standard of written English required for successful completion of the course is very high. As the course progresses, students are required to produce comprehensive case reports interpreting technical information relevant to the case. They then need to produce a professional-looking document explaining technical information in terms that a member of the public would understand. This is an area where many students who don’t have English as their first language have struggled, which has affected their ability to successfully complete the course.
A good standard of education is desirable, or equivalent workplace experience. This course is set at a level above UK A Level standard. For Stage Two, students must be able to communicate to the standard equivalent to Level 7 of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). If you are not sure about embarking on the Nutrition Advisor course why don’t you have a look at our short courses which provide a very useful introduction or contact us for a chat about your options?
Science wasn't my strong point at school - is that a problem?
Whilst science does not have to be your strong point in the course you will learn about biochemistry but this isn’t like the chemistry and physics taught at school. There are technicalities which need to be mastered but previous science qualifications are not necessary.
How long will it take me to complete the Nutrition Advisor course?
You should be able to complete this course in around 9 – 12 months depending on how much time you have available for studying. We recommend that you set aside 10 hours per week for studying in order to achieve this timescale.
Will I receive a diploma at the end of the Nutrition Advisor course?
Yes, you’ll still receive the diploma – it’s good to have something to show for all the work you’ve done at that stage of training. This also entitles you to join the Naturopathic Nutrition Association as associate member.
How long will it take me to complete the Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy course?
This course is split into 2 stages:
- Stage One (this is the same as our Nutritional Advisor course) should be completed in around 9-12 months.
- Stage Two Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy incorporating Clinical Practice. This should be completed in around 20-24 months.
- Stage 1 and the fist half of stage 2 can be completed much quicker if you have the time to devote to your studies but Clinical Practice is done as a group and takes between 10-12 months. The time table for this is agreed in advance with the students.
Will I get a diploma at the end of the Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy course?
Yes, after successfully completing both stages, including Clinical Practice, you’ll receive a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy diploma.
Is the Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy course recognised by a reputable professional body?
Will I be able to practice when I complete the Nutrition Advisor course?
Yes you will be able to practice as a qualified Nutritional Advisor. Although at the end of this level of training our graduates have acquired a huge amount of knowledge, they are not qualified to help address a diagnosed medical condition. However, they are able to offer advice to people who want to achieve or maintain optimal health. You’ll find more information about the skills of a Nutrition Advisor on our ‘Courses’ page.
Will I be able to practice when I complete the Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy course or will I need any further training?
You’ll have the skills needed to set up in practice. Our aim is that every graduate of the college will be both competent and confident to establish a naturopathic nutritional therapy practice. After successfully completing the course, some graduates study other complementary therapy skills that may interest them but with their Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy diploma they are ready to set up in practice.
Will I be able to obtain professional insurance?
Do you have an Equal Opportunities Policy?
Yes we do. The College is committed to equal opportunities for all including student enrolment, tutor vacancies and volunteer client selection for Clinical Practice tutorials. There shall be no discrimination on the basis of gender, age, race, religion, belief, sexual orientation, disability or (in the case of tutors) rate of pay. This policy covers all current legislation. All tutors shall respect and act in accordance to the policy with regards to the treatment of students and (where applicable) selection of volunteer clients. Bullying and harassment are totally unacceptable whether by students or tutors. The College Principal has overall responsibility for the policy.
What is the level of qualification for your courses?
Level 3 is set at the standard of A or AS level awards. Level 4 is the progression to Higher Education standards with the award of a diploma. Our Nutrition Advisor (Stage 1) course is set at a minimum standard of Level 4 with some Level 5 elements included. Our accrediting bodies consider that Level 4 is the minimum standard to be able to competently work as a Nutrition Advisor.
Level 5 is ‘Foundation Degree’ level. This is the standard that forms the basis of our Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist (Stage 2) course. Some of the Level 6 elements are also incorporated into this level of training. Our accrediting bodies consider that training to Level 5 is the standard required to be able to competently and safely work as a Nutritional Therapist.
